Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Head high.
Make sure the village is at atleast 1800 meters.
Val Thorens, Courchevel 1850, Val d'Isere, Tignes, La Plagne and St Moritz are all worthy examples.

LEs Deux Alpes, Alpes d' huezsome of the austrian glacier resorts solden obertauren hintertux, Cervinia Italy (prob cheaper than Zermatt on the Swiss side) and prob high enough to be snow sure. Skiing holiday at new year isn't going to be the cheapest time to go. I would go the week following.
Cheap booze + ski resorts Hmm almost an oxymoron

The others have kind of decided on Bansko! Which means i could end uo being there 3 times in a year! woo hoo!
Is there such a thing as a direct flight from Scotland yet?

snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

dave_wick, I wouldn't recommend Bansko for a week unless it's tuition you're after, as the area is quite limited but the tuition is cheap and of a high standard.
It really is a fantastic place for eating and drinking out. For self-catering accomodation check out the
TalkBansko website
I normally fly from Manchester with Bulgaria Air.
