Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Gulmarg, Kashmir, 2008

Poster: A snowHead
I've searched around the site and can't find much on Gulmarg that's less than 12 months old!
From looking around the various websites on the subject, it seems the area is very much alive and well - a friend and I are heading out there in February, so it will be interesting to see how my preconceptions measure up to reality.

Has anyone on here been out there - when, and how was it? I have seen Joe (Sherpa) from himalayanpowderdreams.com has been about on here a while back, and there are some others with a commercial interest in the area.

I got turned on to the idea by a Canadian I met in easter, and by all accounts it looks like a fine place to hone one's backcountry skills. Anyone got any experience out there; and willing to impart some advice?

What to take, what to leave behind... do Yasin & Billas huts have electrical supplies..? Might seem like stupid questions but i'd feel a lot more stupid turning up without knowing the answers!

Anyone have any views on best guide outfits to use in Gulmarg? There's a couple of commercial operators offering trips there at a tidy premium, but I'm sure they simply use the local guides which one could book direct/locally?

Mountain Tracks are also doing two Gulmarg Trips in January. I am contemplating one of these as Japan is out, but the dates interfere with quality skiing time in France ... Smile
