Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Mid April Ski - Suggestions on where to go?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
A work colleague of mine wants to go 15th or 16th April for 5 or 6 days. Needs to be back sat midday.

Needs good snow. Not too long a transfer.

Would like: Ski in / out. Bit of life in resort. Mid range cost.

Will do package or diy flights, car hire, hotel.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Cervinia? Seems to tick the boxes... high, lots of snow, cheap flights (Turin, RA & EJ), 75 mins taxi transfer. The only drawback is that the nightlife is pretty quiet, but I think that's nigh on inevitable in mid April...

I've just come back and the Hotel Sertorelli can be recommended

Obertauern ?
Seems to be cropping up quite a lot in this forum now.
I was there a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. Ryanair to Salzburg - Obertauren web site advertises 40 Euro taxi transfer (which was excellent - driver was was waiting at arrivals to whisk us off to the resort). high standard of hotels, plenty of mountains restaurants and Austrian apres-ski, should still be good for snow I would guess.
And night-skiing Mondays and Thursdays if you didn't get enough during the day.

shockingmoment, Here would fit everything except ski in ski out. Next week isn't too bad, busy wise. I don't think with this current warmth that many resorts will get genuine ski in ski out. We can ski down to the village, but not to most of the hotels or apartment blocks.

shockingmoment, Tignes got everything you need, ski in ski out and lots of lovely snow. Very Happy Transfer times are longer than you wanted though Madeye-Smiley

shockingmoment, I think some of the winter ski flights may have stopped by then. But easyjet fly from Liverpool to Geneva over the dates you want. Geneva to Tignes is about 3 hours by car, depending on time of travel.
Ryanair do Liverpool to Grenoble/Lyon which is about 2 hours by car to Tignes.
You may have more choice if you go from other Uk airports. But you're looking for flight to Geneva, Lyons, Chambery or Grenoble.

shockingmoment, it's been very warm in recent days so I'd strongly recommend you go high. Tignes would be good I'm sure, here in Les Arcs is good above 1800m, I was in Courchevel yesterday at it also seemed good above 1800m.
