Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

new skis for my stepmother & father (both sorted)

hi all, wondered if any of you could suggest some skis for my dad & step mother. He is a brilliant skier (5'11, 12 stone) - has instructed/raced much of his life, but is 73 now & although extremely fast, he had a hip resurface op. last Sept. S'mother is 5ft 5 & an intermediate skier - has been skiing years, but doesn't enjoy sport - so elegant & medium speed-ish. Neither ski's off piste. We skied with them last week & their ski's seemed long to me -she is on 170's - an alpine/carver hybrid & he is on a volkl carver 177. They are skiing again next week in Val despair & I wonder if they should rent with a view to buy. Think life would be much easier with newer shorter ski's. sorry for such a long question!

I'm not an expert but if your father is sticking to the pistes I would have thought a better length would have been 170 possibly 165 if a slalom style ski. your mum 155 or 160 cm tops. Other will be better placed to advise on length and skis.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

dan100, thanks - this is about the length I had envisaged - WTFH has just suggested the salomon equipe gc race at 170.
