Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hip flasks.

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I skied with someone a couple of weeks ago who had a hip flask with some rather fine cognac in it. It all seemed very civilised, so I'm considering getting one for myself. I was wondering if anyone had any advice.

Which is best, stainless steel, pewter, or silver?

We carry 2 at all times because Cognac is best in coffee but rum is much better in chocolate - you have got to hve your bases covered

Kramer, mine's stainless steel, but with a nice bit of pigskin wrapped round the outside! And the best thing to go inside it is cinnamon schnapps.

Ooh, with you on the sloe gin Frosty the Snowman Smile I punctured my hipflask (which had blackcurrant schnapps in at the time) when I wiped out quite spectacularly one time.

Hello everybody; first post for me but I had to second the port and brandy mix option.
As far as flasks go the best (of the four I own) is the leather covered (non slip) stainless steel one. It has a top that is fixed with a metal flap to the flask so that you can't drop it off the chairlift (very important IMO)
Cheers everyone

It's not easy to get hold of - I've bought it in Austria before, where it was called Goldschlage and it's got tiny gold flakes in it. I'm always looking out for it - hopefully in Basel tomorrow Very Happy

I've never tried that with Cognac or rum - what effect does it have on the glid of the ski, and how often do you need to re-do it during the week?

I must admit though, I needed a very steady hand to fill Grays flask with port from a 2ltr plastic container in Soldeu... thinking about it, would have just been easier to have strapped the container around my neck and fitted it with a straw Toofy Grin
