Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Report on Arinsal trip for newbie

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all. After all the great help and advice I received from everyone here, the least I can do is post our holiday details.

Just 2 of us whom are both complete beginners. Decided based on price and snow availability at end of the day. Got a superb Thompson package including equipment rental, ski lessons and ski pass for £375pp which was full board so total spending was not much above that!

Flew out from Manchester to Toulouse. Coach bus to Arinsal took about 4h including a 30min break half way. Stayed at Hotel Palarine, which is british run (with oriental theme in Bamboo Lounge). All the staff was very friendly and service was good. Food was excellent, both full hot buffet breakfast and different dinner, all with different courses.

Since we were both non-drinkers (yeah, shock horrors!), our "apres ski" was mostly chilling out in lounge after dinner! so, cannot tell you much about night scene over there.

Bus ride of 5 minutes to gondola. Bus was there every 15 minutes. Had no problems getting to slopes with our shoes (skis stored at agency "cage" for €10 for the week) in hand.

Received lessons in group of 10. Found it really hard at beginning but hey, worked at it and managed to ski by 3rd day. Initial carpet nursery slopes followed by green slopes and on final 2 days, blue slope. Found all slopes more than adequate for the week for our level. Intermediates can still enjoy the blue and red slope there. Our ski lifts were for entire region and you could take lifts to Pas but we did not do that

Overall, highly recommended for beginners on a budget. Did not feel "cheap" as good food and value was great! I am told Apres Ski is also decent

I was there last year. Stayed in the Montane opposite the gondola. The ski schools at Arinsal are great for beginners. Nice compact village .
