Firstly, I'll make a note to avoid Flaine from 20 Jan 
Guess I'll just continue my mantra that it doesn't matter much what you've got under yer boots so long as the prep is OK and they're roughly the right length. If you can't have a fab time on today's equipment there's something very wrong with your skill set. I'll never forget the bloke I met in Verbier once... he washed dishes, filled in as bar man etc. He couldn't afford skis but managed (somehow) to find a discarded 210 GS ski (he assumed the other one had snapped in the bumps) and one 223 DH ski. The bindings were luckily approximately the same model from same manufacturer. He sawed 13cm off the back of the DH ski, repositioned the bindings and used that set up for most of the season. He was no slouch in any conditions. Did he have a fantastic time? YES. So, the set up for me will continue to be "whatever".

I'm sure you are right about skill set and that Bode Miller could beat 99.9% of skiers with his boots nailed to a couple of barrel staves. But some of us who are 'skill set challenged' need all the help we can get.

Up to now my wife has been ok about me posting on Snowheads and spending time viewing other postings. However she is somewhat concerned that people are taking photos of their equipment and posting them for other people to look at. She thinks this is not normal behaviour.

On-piste skiing for me, and my Volkl Attiva 4* (predecessor of this year's Attiva S4) will be just the thing. I absolutely love these skis!

You can buy Salewa skin on the roll for 16 euros/meter, you only need 2.5 meters and a pair of top-fix. That said they are only for the narrow trees of the Chartreuse where you can't get anything much wider through and still ski. Still they would make great approach skis for climbers and a whole lot cheaper than the alternatives.

Fischer TStix Stingray with 7TM bindings. Skis are new and unused but a couple of season old. Skis are either 179 or 183cm (can't remember which) and have a turn radius of approx 21m
Description is "The Fischer T-Stix Stingray Ski takes the proven and popular Big Stix 7.6 profile and stiffens it up to make it a truly versatile all-mountain mid fat."
We'll have to see how they go as I've not tried them yet.
If I'm not on those I'll probably be on Fischer Boundless waxing nordic touring skis with a Voile 3pin and cable binding on a release plate.

I've got a pair of Rosignol Free Venture blades which I use occasionally, but do you know if anyone has tried mounting a pair of blades with a telebinding?

One has to ask why? I'd have thought nothing was more guaranteed to start back tip dive than to have your foot squirrelling around on a too short ski when you lead change. Like most snowlerblading I suspect its excellent for technical balance not so practical for any use I'd want to put them to (with my ski level).
Nice trenchdiggers on your blades BTW but strictly speaking the correct place for them is on a race board

Easier to distinguish the true tele turn from fake-a-mark at slower speeds on smaller hills.
It's a hoot with a leather boot.
I'm surprised there hasn't been a flood of 110-140cm tele setups in snowdomes.
EDIT: Back tip dive is a problem in pow for those who already know how to pressure the back ski, but horses for courses, far more problematic is going over the handlebars in slow wet slushsnow.

i dont understand why folks slag off snowblades/skiboards, is it some kind of snobbery. so what if folk choose to use them, doesnt make them any better or worse than skiers or boarders, just makes them different. i can ski to a very high level but choose to skiboard, in my oppinion its more fun. and thats what this is all about isnt it. wether it be skis, boards, skiboards its all sliding on snow. i have read the view that snowbladers are hooligans on the slopes, but this was also said about snowboarders. doesnt matter what you have attached to your boots, there will be a hooligan element, have seen it with all 3, none being worse than another

Well said - was just pulling your leg really though you'd never catch me on burly non-release bindings like those Bombers unless it was on a alpine board.
I can see teleing on hardpack on a wedze length ski might be good training. My teleing isn't stable enough to feel confident about it just yet

Thinking about it more you wouldn't of course be skiing blades in the type of snow where dive could be an issue and I can see how tele stance would improve the stability of snowlerblades (sorry can't resist - love the word  ) so that nice tight teleturns on the right hardpack might be practical. If I was good enough.

fatbob, i had 2 brand new sets of skiboards about 10 months ago, set of salomon 99cm with releasable bindings, set of atomic etl123 cm with releasable bindings, but then the summits arrived, they are a work of art, and will be fantastic in all conditions compared to the other 2 sets. the others where put straight on the bay, i mihgt buy another set of summits, the nomads 1m long (or short depending on viewpoint), and will prob go again for non release bindings. yeah i know that accidents can happen, but if i was to have that as my reasoning for chosing kit then i would leave this sport that i love. up until 2006 i had salomon 90cm blades with snowboard bindings, looked cool, where very comfy,but lost so much control compared to hard bindings. best thing about them was the bindings where on huge riser plates, you could really crank right over when carving.
