Poster: A snowHead
|
Hello All,
This is my first post on snow heads
4 of us (all just about beginners) have a flight to Bergamo for a long weekend in the middle of March. From research here and elsewhere I have narrowed the choice of resort down to Chiesa in Valemenco, Ponte di Legno (quiter / quaint area near passo tonale) and Madonna. We would like a nice village, reasonably good snow, good atmosphere and are beginner intermediates.
I'm finding it difficult to get any information on Chiesa and any advice on hotel / accommodation in Ponte di Legno. We are looking for a quaint village, and accommodation of good quality reasonably close to slopes and or village.
At the moment it's looking like Madonna as it is easier to source recommended hotels and seems to have lots of easy blues. However if any one has any advice on quality of resort re Chiesa or a nice hotel in Pone di Leno I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
landers

Haven't been to any of those resorts....but have just come back from Foppolo.....and the snow wasn't up to much (although I think they did have some as we were leaving)

Thanks folks.. its great to join this forum, maintaining my ski mojo throughout the year.
My brother and his girlfriend are going with us in March and are in Lermoss at the moment.. so we may end up combining a bit of site seeing and skiing meaning 2 days skiing in Foppollo may do. I will keep an eye on the forum re snow in the foppolo / region and make a call on it closer to departure day..
If they are up for it though it will be four days skiing...

landers, Welcome to 's. You may well be travelling out at the same time as ourselves. There are 8 of us heading for Selva 11th - 18th. I am sure you will have a great time. Hoping for snow and sun and some good skiing.
Do you have any connection to a well known outdoor sports shop?

Roy Hockley, Lucky you! We came back from Selva 2 weeks ago and had a fantastic time. At this moment trying to decide where to go in the dolomites for next year. By the way our favourite bar for apres ski was the one next door to Hotel Corona, not the Luiskeller (too loud) but immediately next door to Corona. It's actually right opposite one of the slopes down into the middle of the town, so very handy! Just wish we had done the Hidden Valley after re-reading some of the posts on here, but just means we can do that next year. Have fun!

We are goin to Madonna now, Friday to Tuesday..but may contact you in the future re Foppolo Elizabeth. I'm a bit worried that the snow conditions might not be great in Madonna..but i had to pick a place that wasn't too far from bergamo and had non-ski options as at least one of our party wont want to do too much. We will have a car so have the option of sight seeing as well. Although my idea of sight seeing would be a trip to Passo Tonale for more snow !! I was in Morzine in January with little or no snow....
