Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New Ski Boots

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am looking to buy a some new ski boots, I am an advanced skier, ski all pisted runs well(or so I've been told) with the occassional off piste if there is any fresh powder about. I am looking at something like the Salomon X-wave 9 or the Nordica Speedmachine 10. Does anyone have any experience of these boots or have any other ideas.
I ahve heard that some of the new X-waves can have problems with the hexagons on the side letting in water.

braeworth, Get to your nearest reputable Zookeeper. Let them advise you on shape, flex, footbed and liner options, try looking at the buying boots thread at the top of the Equipment Forum. I'll try to elaborate on it one day! And no, there is no problem with X-Waves letting in water due to the Hex-Spaceframe, sometimes the toe joint can leak, but next winters 'Instict' has solved this although still high volume and not overly anatomical.

In english Happy You should see a bootfitter - if you tell us vaguely where you live we can suggest some good ones.

We have a few well experienced boot fitters and are based in the west midlands and the North west if thid helps and X-wave 9 as well if necessary. get us on 01244 344580 or 01743 353776. And I also have never experienced an issue with the hexagnol spaceframe technology in the x-wave's

The rumours about Salomon's Spaceframe leaking were started by other reps who wished they had Salomon's market share.

Just my two penny's worth!

Thanks. I live in the North East of England. I do intend to go to a reputable bootfitter and understand the advantages of footbeds etc. I just wanted some info before I went, after all there would be no point getting really comfortable boots and moulded footbeds if the boots let in water and I ended up in agony with frozen feet
