Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cervinia/Zermatt on the 25th Feb - worried?!?!

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi folks,

I have a holiday booked to Cervinia/Zermatt on the 25th Feb (staying in Cervinia). However, I have been keeping an eye on the Cervinia websites and it appears that although snow conditions are really good, all the lifts and slopes appear to be closed or expecting opening/on standby. This is what I have been looking at with great concern: http://www.cervinia.it/sezioni/skiplan/skiweb_eng.asp?dominio=cerv
http://www.cervinia.it/sezioni/skiplan/skiweb_eng.asp?dominio=valt
http://www.cervinia.it/sezioni/skiplan/skiweb_eng.asp?dominio=zermatt

Surely this cannot be the case? At least I hope not as me taking on this is that the whole resort isn't operational?

Has anyone been there this season, waiting to go, have any clue as to what is going on, or have any experience in this resort?

Thanks in advance for your help, Regards!

if anything closed due to bad weather / winds. Was in Zermatt last weekend and conditions superb, if a little hardpack - all runs / lifts open - runs into Cervinia itself in mighty fine condition.

You don't have a great deal to worry about.

Chillax.

Cervinia and Zermatt have some of the best conditions in the Alps right now.

Plenty of snow. It just dumped about a foot this week.

Almost all the lifts are open.

Any closures will have been, or are, temporary, due to fresh snow, wind, etc.

Enjoy.

Yep, skied over there twice, no problems what so ever - in fact, I stand corrected, have just remembered, the red run down to Valtournenche was closed.

the Ventina - apparently the lower section of that run is prone to closing - still apparently an azming run though - what do you think is up with that site then pal? has been like that for several weeks now...

a lifty told me that the run was just short of snow towards the bottom, certainly the conditions to the furtherst point you could go (i.e. top of the first lift up from valtournenche, somewhere beginning with C I think) were good all the way.

As for mountain restaurants, we ate twice in Italy and twice in Switz - can't remember names but didn't have a bad meal anywhere.

Best meal of the weekend though was in the Pasta factory in the Hotel Post, Zermatt, absolutely superb curried spaghetti !

We were in Cervinia for the weekend at the end of January - conditions were perfect - was lovely and sunny and everywhere seemed to be open.
