According to the BBC we should be battening down the hatches and only venturing outside if armed with a spade and a torch. I am supposed to be travelling to Leeds today but the day has been cancelled as there is almost half an inch of snow here. Oh well, I'll make the best of it and go back to bed.....

Latest weather model runs suggest the cold will hang on a bit longer. No real thaw further North than a line stretching from North Wales to Suffolk until Saturday lunchtime at least. Although Cornwall could be up to 12 degrees by then !
Wish it had gone a bit further North though, what a waste of good snow, having to make do with showers at Cairngorm and the Lecht up here

Maybe an inch here in Spalding (east of the midlands, north of east anglia but down at sea level) but it's still snowing steadily. Melting as fast as it's settling at the moment though.

Having been out sledging with the kids, its easy to spot anyone who has at some point had a skiing holiday! They are the ones, like us, wearing sensible snow gear. Jeans seemed to be the clothes of choice for most parents and kids - for about 2 mins until they all went home freezing

Started snowing about 8:30 am here in South Yorks, wet and mushy stuff. Made about an inch covering. All melted by lunchtime.
Elizabeth B - bet you won't be managing any handbrake turns on the way home from work.

Been puking down continuously in my corner of the UK from roughly 4am to 1pm. Still snowing lightly.
It has dumped almost 15cm of freshies.
Been out for a few hours, firstly down the local golf course, secondly down the local hill in the middle of my city center.
Both had complete snowcover, with pockets of powpow remaining by midday. Dozens of sledders and boarders about.
The Blizzard of '07 will go down as a legendary day

It's not fair! We're only 20 miles south of Bristol (in the deep south of the northwest) and we got nothing at all. Or does hail count?

We had about 5" here just outside Merthyr Tydfil.
So I spent my lunchtime (I work from home) skiing the field outside the house. No actual photos of me, because I had the camera but one photo before I started skiing, and one of the results to the field here http://www.snowmediazone.com/the_zone/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=715
Note - the one of the tracks was taken a couple of hours later, after some rain. Grass was not showing through at the time I stopped.

LOTS of snow all day in rural Worcestershire! Had to have the 'working from home' scenario with the boss this morning who sounded a little dubious. Still snowing now but only a little bit. Metcheck says loads more on Saturday but can't find anyone else saying the same thing!

It looks like the snow and cold air will stick around until Fri afternoon, then temps will ramp up. Rain likeliest for England on Sat.
Am planning to hit the local hill at first light tomorrow, before it all disappears
