Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Metcheck is forecasting snow for next tuesday and loads on thursday. Anyone got any other forecasts that back this up? I was getting excited about going out there anyway, but this would just make it even better!

shoogly, I've been caught out too often -forecast for future dumps - then as the date nears, a downgrading, then on the date only a light dusting - serious disappointment, depression, bottle of malt, .... Confused Confused Confused

I've been looking at cybervalloire.com where the resident amateur forecaster Guillaume is becoming cautiously optimistic about a "degradation" from the 7th Feb. He reckons all the forecasts are showing this tendency but although there is a fair chance of "snowy episodes" (I like that description!)we must be cautious until it happens as a lot could change - foehn winds etc. Let's hope Smile Smile Smile !

Agree with Brian T -any forecast beyond three or four days is pure guesswork. Plenty of posts here over last few weeks promising huge snowfall in 5, 10 days time. I'm sure these posts got loads of people excited, anticipating plenty of perfect skiing/boarding; only to arrive at the resort and face crushing disappointment.

Be much better to tell people that the slopes are bare and no snow forecast - then when they arrive, they'll be absolutely delighted with any bit of snow at all and their holiday will be all the better for it.

this has been on the cards for a while, so fingers crossed it will come to pass.

i'm rather hoping we at least get flurries on the 15th. Last year it was the start of the masssive feb dump and i was sat in monetier hot springs with the snow landing on my nose and i had just turned 39!

Yes so that means we HAVE to have snow this year to as it will be my 40th and my 3rd year in the snow!

Paul100, No, No, No, Too much gloom and doom! The slopes are not bare. Ok, the season has been slow in arriving, but most resorts have enough good snow and there is ALWAYS a big dump just before I go to Wengen at the end of february wink wink wink wink

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

The slopes are not bare

Well, some are. Those at lower altitude and/or steep and/or south facing are decidedly bare. The forecasts are looking good for next week except, just like before, for the freezing level, which the consensus of opinion amateur and professional seems to be putting around 1500/1600m. Good news for some when the precipitation comes........
