I was thinking of getting some of this for my own skis:

I plan to hot wax a few times before I head out to Soelden and then rub the paste in and brush after the end of every day for 6 days.
Now, the paste costs £5 plus postage.
So, is it worth it when I could just get a shop to hot wax 'em very quickly...
Also, how long do you think a shop would take ?

I've always left skis over night, been ready first thing.
Full wax has cost ~15 Euros, In Austria and France, so far

What do you do, just get them waxed after 3 days skiing ?
I have all my own waxing kit but I can't really be arsed to take an iron, etc. with me. I'm just looking for the easiest solution and something to keep the skis moving fast !!!

They might pass your ski through the wax roll for free too - admittedly then they do not scrape nor polish the base, but it's still a wax...

I've been using Zardoz notwax on my skis, and it works really well. You rub it on once in the morning, with a quick buff in if its really cold, and it makes your skis slide as if they've just been waxed.
Spyderjon sold it to me.

GordonFreeman - having seen the "wax" application to my skis after a full base grind recently (30 euros) - either get the Swix stuff or some Notwax.
That "wax" consisted of rubbing a slither of wax onto a rotating drum and rubbing the skis on the drum...
...must've taken all of...10 seconds a ski...

PhillipStanton, This is exactly what I meant. The wax is melted in a pot underneath the rotating drum. Ski is passed over the drum and it gets the dose of wax. It takes about 10 secs/ski and if you beg nicely, they'll do it for free. 
Obviously, that is not the real wax which people are discussing here.

BTW I have seen some shops just rub a little wax onto the nylon rotary brush and then run the ski over that, puts a slight deposit on the base probably lasts as far as the first chair lift. The rotary roller in the bath of hot wax is better but the ski needs to be passed over several times to bring the base up to temp so that it absorbs some.
