Where's the cheapest place to hire equipment in soldeu or el tarter...anyone know of any good discount websites where I can pay in advance online and get a good deal?

The Calbo shops give discount to SCGB members, I checked up on this just before Christmas. Pic Negre also do if you ask.

Was there last week and nordic sports (next to hotel nordic! in el tarter) had some brand new dynastar slalom skis in the silver category, 15 euros a day. he said they were 2 seasons old and he got 2000 pairs of them cheap. He was also selling them for euro 275 inc pivot bindings. Guy i skied with for a day was using them and said they were excellent for the hard conditions. I was tempted, but my other half suggested it was not a good idea..................

The service is appaulling and the staff are hopeless the equipment is rubbish and the queues are horrendous!!! Not got a good thing to say about it really! We went to them for about 3 years and thought that all ski hire was like this - thank god it's not!
Try Pic Negre instead!

Pic Negre and Nordic are both pretty good. Pic gets my vote because Vincent used to let me demo all their best skis for free.

I am staying in an apartment inbetween Soldeu and el Tarter I was wanting some tips of good places to go also...I might start another thread for that though

badgerdot, To answer your question SCGB stands for Ski Club of Great Britain, say it quietly as there are many on here who have an axe to grind
