Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Y'all,

With potential for better / colder weather can we at last be optomistic?

Thought we should share those times like now when there has been no snow then it arrived "JIT"

1989 Les arc 1800 raining on arrival at 4pm - no snow lower slopes. Mega snow overnight to save the day. Ths must have been around 5th Jan! So not far off where we are now.

Off to PDS on Feb 17th had superb ski-ing last year in Feb staying at Le Viking so really need it to get better!

radical, a couple of years ago, we were on the transfer coach back, and for some reason Montgenevre had very heavy snowfall and Serre Chevalier had only a sprinkling. The Montgenvre crowd were gutted though, as the skiing in the first half of the week ahd been almost non-existent, then the lifts had been shut because of the snow. We got a lift pass refund in our first year because of the weather in Flaine. We had rain, hail, sleet, snow, thunder, lightning, fog, gales, and finally, for the last day, beautiful sunshine.

It was in February 1995, we were staying in a chalet in St. Martin de Belleville. One day we were going to ski to Courchevel and had to turn back from les Menuires, wind was so strong it would have blown us off route... Then on the last day, we could not get to the airport as there had been a mudslide onto the main road leading out of the village...Ah, nevertheless, lovely memories.. Madeye-Smiley

A few years ago persuaded friends to join us for a cheap last week of the season trip to Passo Tonale. Thought it would be snowsure until then. Panicked for the 3 weeks before we went as before my eyes the webcams showed the slopes turning back into meadows. Decided we would soldier on anyway and have a nice trip walking and eating. On the day of our arrival about 10 miles outside of resort, saw a car with what I thought was a white roofbox on it, then another and another. Then it started to fall, and fall. When we got to the hotel we bumped into the poor people waiting for their return transfer, they had'nt skiied at all for the week. Felt so sorry for them. We had a fantastic time. Hardly anyone one the slopes except the italian army.

Lesson of above posts - book late. You will get a cheaper holiday and you know there will be snow. If you do have to book far in advance (school holidays, etc), make sure you go to one of the high, snowsure resorts.
