Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Xmas in Wengen...

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi All,

I am very tired after sifting through loads of posts returned by search facility - so I have decided to post a fresh question....

Can someone please give an rough estimate of the cost per person (flights and accomodation) for a package holiday to Wengen at Xmas - for both catered and self catered. Budgetwise I would be looking at the cheaper end of the market.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

blondends, hi there, the cheapest hotel accomodation will be the 2* Bernerhof hotel but I've no idea how much it would cost at Christmas

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It was about £700pp for a week in the Bernerhof this Xmas, rising to about £950+ for the nicer hotels (package prices including flights & transfers). A 6-day ski pass costs about £130 at the moment.

UK tour operators have very little self-catering accommodation in Wengen - most people (self included) who want self-catering do the whole thing independently, which is dead easy these days.

Cool - so organising the whole thing independently, what would you best guess be for the cost pp when going self catering and flying over?

Thanks for your input so far !! Very Happy

well, the flying cost is a "piece of string". If you book early with a cheap airline and avoid the most popular flights, maybe £50 return. If you leave it late, or go for the most popular times, maybe £200! Wengen is a rather low resort, don't forget; snow not always reliable as early as Christmas so you might not want to commit yourself too far in advance.

Ah good point - well thanks guys for your advice ! I think that I will definitely look in to the independent booking thing a little more.

Cheers,

blondends, if you are really bvudget concious, then it may be worth looking at Lauterbrunnen. The hotels there will be cheaper than Wengen...but obviously you are then staying in the valley not the resort.
