Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What's a gummi stone?

I tend to use wet or dry and an edge sharpener...

roga, a gummi stone is an abrasive rubber block designed to be soft enough so that, under pressure, it adapts to the crevices of the object being sanded, much like erasing pencil marks on paper. The softness also means that pressure is distributed better over the entire edge, and is thus less likely to change bevel angles.

The coarse grit ones are a bit more effective for removing existing rust. The fine grit ones can be used to polish out striations or other marks left in the edge by filing or grinding and thus may make rust less likely by reducing the number of local pitting/moisture availability sites. This second application is past the point of diminishing returns for quite a few skiers; attention to the gear immediately after skiing yields proportionately greater results.

You can buy the abrasive rubber blocks from either a ski place for too much money, or from B&Q for about £5 less!

Did you carry you skis in a bag ? If you can avoid doing so, and pack the skis inside your car (where it's warm and dry) - they won't rust.

Or even better get it from Spyderjon who can supply any gear you need (along with advice on how to use it).
