Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

If you bank with Abbey and use your card abroad ...

... then they will de-activate it until you talk to their fraud department.

I think this may have been discussed recently and probably affects other banks too. Abbey now require that you notify them if you are going to use your card abroad.

I'm not complaining as I approve of any security measures like this. Just that it caught me out, not being able to use my card in cashpoints at home after returning from Italy.

Bev's Barclaycard got cloned on its one and only use (to pay the bar bill obviously!) in Italy this summer. It seems reasonable to let the card company know where you are going.

Chris Bish, Won't always help though - my wife's card (Tesco) was blocked last time we were in Calais, phone call to Customer Services resolved. So on next trip we called to let them know, they said thanks but will probably happen again as is automated.

Our Nationwide card has been used all over france since we got it without any problem, except on one occasion, and that was trying to pay for lunch on the glacier at Les Deux-Alpes. Reason we were using it was we'd forgottten to go the the cash machine........... Now our French bank card was refused on two occasions this New Year, so we stopped trying to use it at all.

Ray Zorro, Thanks for that - have emailed daughter to tell her, although I think she's mostly using her Nationwide account
