Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Atomic Binding Dilemma

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My dilemma is that I've just purchased a second hand set of 04/05 Atomic SX11 with Centro 412 Rental bindings, but I've read on the forum that Centros are a bit naff:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260063753064&rd=1&rd=1

I am thinking of buying a nice new pair of Neox614 from Denver Wholesale Skis on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300067100732&sspagename=ADME:B:AAQ:US:1

But I also have an older pair of SX11 with SX614 bindings.

Should I shell out for a new set of Neox or reclaim my old SX614s?
How do the 3 different bindings compare?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Chizz5056, I can't compare the bindings for you, but would suggest you think carefully before ordering from the US. Unless you can get Denver Wholesale to fill in the green customs declaration on the package as a "gift" or "free sample" (i.e. lie) then it's quite likely that you'll get charged import taxes and clearance fees when the package arrives in the UK. If you buy from within the EU then you won't. I have to deal with this sort of thing a lot as I import loads of stuff from Australia and the US and it's not often that packages slip through.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Personally I'd get the Neox bindings I hate the device/SX bindings on my atomics - ruin what is otherwise a really good ski.

If it's of any interest, depending on what din setting (say max of 7-8 ) you use, I've got some atomic race 310's you can have for a tenner which I will give to our founder admin. I think the're 3 yrs old mainly black with a bit of yellow. Similar in appearance to the centro's.

I usually have DIN 9 or 10, so I guess they're out of the equation. Thanks for the offer though. I guess I really need a 6-14 DIN range to have my setting towards the middle of the range.

I haven't had a problem with my Race 614 bindings on my SX11s (only difference between the Race and SX is the amount of lift - 5mm). I've also skied the Neox 614 on the LT11, and they're good. Frankly, either binding will work well, though the Neox has more metal in its construction and may feel more solid, though I can't notice too much of a difference - even on eastern boilerplate ice.

Have just found out that apparently to fit Centro bindings, my skis would have been drilled making alternative holes to the original Atomic ones used for Neox bindings. Would drilling the skis to fit Centro bindings affect the integrity of the ski at all? It must make some difference.
