First of all a reminder that after Turin in 2006, the confirmed venue for the Winter Olympics in 2010 is Vancouver (which will feature Whistler for skiing events). Preparations are well underway, with ambitions to further boost Whistler's status (it is already claimed to be the third biggest ski resort in the world). This report from Seattle Post Intelligencer.
In the meantime the bidding war for the 2014 Games will commence. Korea is determined to secure the nomination, but interestingly there's a dispute in the country as to which site - Muju or PyeongChang - should host the event. The International Ski Federation are about to conduct an inspection of the mountains.
Other cities expected to bid for 2014 are Salzburg, Sofia, Tromso and Zurich. The IOC decision on the venue will be taken in 2007.

Korea (Muju) isn't even in our resorts database....
Having trouble locating the ski resort site - found plenty about Confucian schools but not ski schools in the Muju mountains...
Some general info about the resort here:

Probably is the first one, but once you get into the sub-indices it's all in Korean. Need to get their act together if they want to present their bid to the outside world!
Best we can do is add the second, generalised link, don't you reckon?

PG, try the first one again and click on the little word English on the top RHS of the home page. That seems to hold the lower levels in English. There is a Piste Map and Lift Details on that site which I couldn't find on the other one.
Weird piste names - Boat, Yacht, Canoe, etc........ lost something in the translation perhaps ?? As has

Missed that, thanks. Apparently Muju is the place to.... "creatively vitalize your body and spirit."
Sounds like the place to be! A touch of either the Google automatic translation software or a Korean with very basic knowledge of English and a dictionary. First rule of translation - only translate into your mother tongue, unless you are truly bilingual (and very few people are...)

Where's the fun in that!

Poor translation? Funny at times, less amusing consequences at others... occasionally disastrous.
Still, some translation attempts are good for a laugh .... eg when "Come alive with the Pepsi Generation" was translated as "Pepsi will bring your ancestors back from the dead" (in Taiwan)....

Yes. If the athletes are being asked to sleep in the open I don't think they'll win the bid.

Of the various bidding cities for 2014, Tromso is arguably in the most interesting situation geographically.
Although it would be the third time Norway has staged the Winter Olympics (Sweden has never done so), after Oslo and Lillehammer, Tromso is in the Arctic Circle.
Here's the Tromso bid website. Unless I missed it, there doesn't seem to be much about the skiing venues - it would be interesting to know which mountain(s) would stage the downhills - but it would certainly offer something different. The athletes and spectators would be largely accommodated in moored cruise ships.

I'm not surprised. I couldn't quite see the downhill races taking very long down the Uetliberg.

Slightly off topic, since it's not Canada or Korean oriented but a good article about 2 Brits selected for the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Nagano in Feb. 2005. And tucked in there is another top young skier called Baxter ...... have they been genetically modified ??

Our sister site www.snowracers.net reports today that Tromso's bid for the 2014 Games is in doubt, following an indication from the Norwegian government that the cost would be too high.

Over in Korea, where two ski areas are competing to be the official candidates for the 2014 Winter Olympics, the FIS will perform a further assessment of one of the mountains tomorrow (Friday 18 November): Muju, North Cholla Province.
