Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Advice: Three Valleys in early February?

 Poster: A snowHead

I am on the verge of joining a group to 3V (La Tania) for early February, but heard that most experts (perhaps wrongly) predict subpar conditions for this winter. I have never been there, so can anyone advice if one could still get a decent skiing (e.g. on higher slopes) even if the weather is warmish (and I understand that there are no guarantees -- waterski only if it is +10 and raining).

Other advice (destination/time/groups/resources for solo traveler) is also much appreciated (traveling from the US, so can only manage one week in Alps this season)!

It's far too early to tell.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

A friend of mine got back on Saturday and said that despite snowmaking it was quite icy just above the resort, but that the snow higher up was very good. The 3V piste maintainance is top notch - think Vail, so they do make the very best of what they have, and the area is so big there is always good snow to be found. I wouldn't cross the atlantic to stay in La Tania though - its a bit small and quiet with no intrinsic charm. How about St Martin de Belleville or Courcheval 1300, unless you do want ski in ski out slopeside accommodation.

Martin,

Thank you for the info! The main argument for La Tania is that I found a group that I can join. -- Alex

alex_me_ov, La Tania, is a great little resort, it has all the amenities you need and a great Pub!, it is quite small but in the evening the Pub Le Ski Lodge aint quiet, Live music, and other entertainment, overall a great atmosphere, and to add its beers cheaper than Courchevel and other resorts surrounding the 3Vs. Have a look at this site - www.latania.co.uk theres quite a bit of info on there.

Good luck, whatever you end up doing Smile
