Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Got these on my shortlist of demo skis, along with Salomon GC Serie and the Salomon GS race ski.

Any opinions on the Atomics please?

Ah well maybe there haven't been too many demo pairs. Desperately need to change my tired-out Crossmax 10's, but no idea where to start!

Since no-one has tried the LT12's if its of any value I've got the ST11's.
( If I'm correct LT= Long Turns, and the ST11 is the short turn nominal radius 11m on whatever ski it was they measured).

I was looking in a similar ballpark at race type skis (obviously slalom rather than the GS that you're looking at). Tried lots of very spritely numbers and particularly liked the Fischer WorldCup SC but, the bonus of the blue atomic range assuming they havent changed the colour this season - I havent looked, Is that they are basically detuned a bit and therefore if you are on them all day will potentially leave you a bit less knackered! You do still need to work the ski to avoid falling off the back but they are a little bit easier to be slack on at the end of the day! Smile

If you are picking out a bunch to test I would also reccommend the Rossi 9X oversize as I had a go on a mates and they were pretty good.(they were also considerably lighter to carry into the gondola!).

Not quite what you were after but hey! Little Angel

telford_mike, If you're coming from Crossmax's is it definately a race ski that you're after (?) as I'd recommend testing the Atomic SX-B5 Supercross ski. It's 109/68/95 with a 16m sidecut & pretty stiff - not too stiff to ski all day but still gives you a kick in the a$$ when you want it. Also makes a great occasional GS ski. I've just bought a new pair of the 05/06 model c/w Neox 412's for £300 versus a £599 list price. The 06/07 model is unchanged except for the graphics & the 05/06 model comes with the lighter weight Neox 412's. A bargain if ever there was one snowHead

I also know were there's a pair of 166 SX10-B5 Connected's going for just £250. They're last year's model & have been used by the retailer as demo skis at Xscape Castleford. For your £250 you get the skis as seen (un-serviced, but they're in vg condition) but they'll replace the demo bindings with a brand new pair of Neox 412's. I was going to have them myself but took the SX-B5's from another dealer instead as they matched my boots wink

spyderjon at the risk of inducing vomiting, I just picked up a pair from a nice old gent in Chiswick who sold them after a few days for £50 - it seems he wanted £500 Shocked but made a typo and didn't have the guts to own up and send me away after my mammouth trip out there. Can't say I'm disappointed though!! Toofy Grin Toofy Grin

Thanks guys. A detuned GS ski is pretty much what I'm after. I had Volkl P40s before the Crossmaxes and loved them, though they were perhaps a tad too hard to live with at times.

I've got a pair of 2003 SX11 that I will be putting on eBay shortly. 170cm. Good condition. Recently upgraded to the 2005 model also from eBay.de (Germany). I believe the SX11 are a slightly detuned GS ski. Excellent ski in my limited opinion.

Kaiser, Now back in blighty I'm afraid. With all the snow this week in Tignes those skis will be so narrow underfoot as to be useless. I'll go to £70 for a fellow snowHead
