Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New Ski Jacket and Trou needed

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My budget Decathlon own-label ski gear went South at the end of last season, so I am looking for some new stuff and a bit of an upgrade. My top budget is around £350, maybe £400 for something really good. I would prefer something breathable. Any recommendations?

Trou: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/snowStuff.php?snowThing=alpine
Salopettes: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/snowStuff.php?snowThing=SALOPETTES

Within budget and all totally breathable Little Angel

I was wearing one of these jackets for 3 years before I started selling them which was how/why I ended up doing so.
I'm thinking of replacing it this year because it's got a couple of tears in from falling off my bike but I'll get another the same though.

I have a Marmot jacket, I hate it , I am always cold when I am wearing it . I have gone back to an old Couloir jacket for cold days, and save the Marmot one for warmer weather.

I'd second that. Try before you buy as it's not for everyone.

Love my Orage jacket - had never heard of the brand but apparently its up and coming Very Happy . Quite a wide price range and great designs. My trousers are from Decathlon and actually pretty good

magriggs,

How often do you ski?
How often do you normally change your jacket?
Are you likely to give it much abuse - do you ski trees, offpiste terrain with rocks etc?

The more times it's been washed or needs to be washed the less effective the water proof covering and breathability.
It may be better to buy a cheaper jacket more often than a really expensive jacket that has to last you many years.

My jackets are really cold, it's the layers underneath that keep me warm. The jackets are just a shell and provide protection against the weather but allow me to expire (to sweat like a pig).
