Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val d'Isere main street - unloading/waiting permitted?

A very, very mundane and trivial question, but I thought someone might know the answer.

How strict are the police in Val main street in preventing vehicles hanging around on the roadside whilst luggage is unloaded and then waiting for people to return to the vehicle?

I guess what I really mean is: is there an on the spot fine (like a 'no stopping' red route)?

It there a "Don't even think of stopping" regime?

No big deal - I'm expecting to wing it, but it'd be good to hear from folk, e.g. transfer minibus drivers.

You can wait a few minutes on the pavement but don't block the road. Keep an eye on the car as police patrols are frequent and you will get fined if you leave the car unattended.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks davidof,

I note from http://www.valdinet.com/faq.php?id_faq_type=51 that Val is intended to be car-free by 2009, so I get the feeling 'unlicensed' vehicles will steadily be made to feel less and less welcome.

I won't be leaving the minibus unattended, but having a luggage trailer will make parking in a single slot impossible.

I'll be arriving on a Saturday around 9-10am, so thi could be a busy time I guess. Confused

crosbie, this seemd to be OK in Tignes Val Claret while loading/unloading so long as it was clear that that was what you were doing (i.e.plenty of comings and gooings and car not really left unattended). Don't how applicable this is to VDI though.
