You automatically get directions to your local TK Maxx on booking your first skiing holiday and I have been reliably informed you can get Columbia Jackets for £50. On my first skiing holiday in Andorra I bought a red ski jacket from TK Maxx which on arrival in resort I was told was actually a sailing jacket. Still - none else had one!!!

TK maxx rocks for skiwear. This year my branch has helmets too, which was a bonus. That's not to say there aren't some very odd items of ski clothing on offer in there.....bright pink ski jacket festooned in many many large silver buckles anyone? (comfy to fall on I'm sure  ) ...

So funny to read this thread  ... I've been buying the sweetest Freestyle ski fashions at our 5 local TJ Maxx stores (note the TJ ! ) for many, many years now - they have the coolest brands from Burton to Oakley, 686, Stryke, Siver Cartel etc. and my Freestyle sno-junkie son just can't get enough of them, not even from his own sponsors !
They carry everything overhere, from heavy ski socks (made in Italy, mind you, not China !) to helmets, the newest goggles and specialised gloves and the latest jackets and pants in a very large variety ... and it's unbelievable when you see the prices, compared with MSRP.
The sales usually start in September/early October and by November everything that's left is marked down again by another 50%. We try to keep it our own little secret, because in his opinion: 'you would never wanna be seen at a TJ Maxx store - that's so not cool, duhhhh'

So what is that store's equivalent in Canada, I wonder? I guess it may be the Mountain Equipment Co-op stores; they have all season gear.
Nix the pink jacket for me too! Some great cross country skiing near a little town called Golden, B.C. and they have a ski hill now too.

Don't think there's TJ Maxx in Canada - they're a 800-store clothing chain based in the US: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TJMaxx.
Try to come on down south from BC - Seattle (or Spokane) should have a couple of stores for sure !

Cant beat good old TK Maxx for ski wear, my Salomon jacket is still like new 3 years on and only cost me £40 I think my whole ski wordrobe cost less than £100 and has lasted me well.

I got a Degre7 jacket last week for £53 from good old TK Maxx - I checked on line and skiwear stores are still selling it - for the princely sum of £350 with 30% off - it's not even a dodgy colour or style - lovely black puffa windstopper. So I feel like I've found a real bargain. Mind you there were some real oddities on the rail too!!
