Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skiing in Arizona

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Whilst in Arizona last week, came across the Mount Lemmon resort, near Tucson, less that 100 miles north of the Mexican border. Here's a couple of pictures near top and bottom of the mountain, illustrating the dramatic change in scenery on the way up (accompanied by a 15+ deg. C temperature drop). The nearby village of Summerhaven (there's an unusual name for a winter sports location) was devestated by a forest fire last year, and the (small) lift system took some damage as well.

Has anyone skied there, or at other Arizona resorts? Does anyone know of any resorts closer to the equator (than 32.5 deg lat)? I suppose there must be, but maybe for not much longer. Sad

The world's highest ski lift at Chacaltaya, Bolivia, is also reputed to be the closest to the equator.

Interesting information about Arizona. Did they mention when the ski season starts and ends there?

David, the official blurb says mid-December to April, though the waitress in the mountain restaurant said that whilst that was sometimes the case, the season could also be as short as two weeks! She advised not to book ahead - there's honesty for you!

Oh dear. That one sounds very vulnerable to global warming.
