Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

OK now i have your attention...... NehNeh

got a mate who has skied about 4 weeks and is off on a trip by himself 6th Jan (he's very excited),l eaving mrs and kids behind
<adds quickly - this is about skiing not seeking single company>

Will fly from Newcastle to Innsbruck or Geneva

Where should he go?

He want to get max hours of red cruising to hone technique and build confidecne . He has skied black but its too hard for him to use to practice so a good intermediate resort with easy not too long transfers and reasonable priced accom.

He is also interestedi n checking out a resort to return to next year with the kids (age 10 and 11 skied a week and some snow dome)

cheers guys

For red (& blue) cruising I'd say anywhere in the Skiwelt:- Soll, Scheffau, etc.
I've been to Soll 3 times and the marked routes for doing laps of the area make it very easy to rack up the miles without any risk of getting lost.
The downside is that as it's a low area then snow cover could be an issue. Usual www.tiscover.at accomodation search or tourist info should bring up plenty of places ot stay.

snowcat,
If I was him I would wait and see what the snow is like its been an edgy start to the season and who knows where will have good snow after the xmas /new year rush. If I had to book a flight now I would tend to go to Innsbruck as there is pretty good public transport from there which is the cheaper way of going for a singleton.
A good intermediate resort should be very easy to find, good snow may or may not be.

We are based in Ski Amade and we have several resorts open now with intermediate runs so if he flies to Salzburg he can come and stay with us. As it is a quiet week we can show him around as we will be out skiing anyway.

I'd recommend the three valleys, fairly good snow record, vast area, average transfers wide range of slopes, an intermediates paradise. I' d also agree with FenlandSkier, the skiwelt is great ive stayed in Ellmau a few times, one of them being fairly green though Sad so the conditions can be a bit " touch n go". With circumstances ( travelling alone) i'd wait and see where the snow goes... then follow it!!

20cms can turn the Skiwelt from green to great skiing though, it's virtually all pastureland so there's nothing in the way of rocks to cover and they've extensive snowmaking as well.
