Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

please help need skis for slalom and GS

i'm 16 years old, 5' 8'', and 145 lbs. i'm on a high school race team in massachusetts so the slopes are very icey. I have a good amount of money but not enough to buy seperate skis for both gs and slalom. So im looking for a real good ski and height for GS and slalom.

mike94545, Your problem is length and side cut, very few skis will achive the required performance for either disipline and the result will be a huge comprimise. Save up or borrow some slalom skis, buy yourself some G.S. Or the other way around if you favour short turn when skiing out of competition.

my dad has some older atomic beta carv x, 180 cm, with a 14m sidecut. how do you think that would be for GS

mike94545, They shoul dbe ok for G.S. the radius is a little tight but that will help teach you to be light on your feet. Good start.
