Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Button/poma lifts
By Liz Hunt, Daily Mail

A lift operator will usually hand you the poma - which is a plastic disc on a stick attached to an overhead wire - or you select one from the pool of pomas.

With your sticks in your inside hand, grasp the shaft with your outside hand and position the poma between your legs.

Shuffle forward and be prepared for the sudden jerk in your nether regions as you start - this is the point at which most people fall off

Pros: An easy way to get yourself around a resort - and, if the weather is good, a chance to boost your suntan.

Cons:
Can be uncomfortable on very steep parts of the slope. On the flat bits, it is easy to accidentally lose hold of the poma and find yourself at a standstill.

Several opportunities for a red face: failing to position the poma correctly between your legs; losing the poma and not letting go so you're dragged up the slope by your arms; crossing your skis at the bottom or top of the lift and falling flat; losing the poma on a steep bit of the slope and falling off.

Tip: Don't sit down on the poma - it is not a seat and if you treat it like one, you won't make much progress.
