rob@rar, I can't watch the video here, but I assume the skier was employing Kramerology?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Mr Alderton will attempt the indoor speed record with the aide of a guide through a radio link. |
I guess the conversation will go something like this:
"left a bit, right a bit...................STOP!!!"

Yes, the chap has obviously taken Kramer's advice to heart. (It's a BBC News item, BTW).

Ah, but it is an indoor slope in Holland. Short of a snowdome being built in La Rosiere you're not going to get any better conditions ....

An indoor slope isn't going to be very steep: speed slopes normally start at 45º. I assume he'll have to add an extra ramp from by the ceiling. But even over 550 yards he'd need something extra: perhaps a rocket launcher or a large piece of elastic. And he'll need a big heap of foam rubber as well as the net at the bottom!

I once saw a hill in Holland: they were busy mining it away to make it flat.

On the news this morning, he made it to 56 mph. Not sure I would like to try it.
