Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

This sounds like quite an amazing feat: Blind skier aims for new record.

rob@rar, I can't watch the video here, but I assume the skier was employing Kramerology?

Mr Alderton will attempt the indoor speed record with the aide of a guide through a radio link.

I guess the conversation will go something like this:
"left a bit, right a bit...................STOP!!!"

Brain fart. No idea why I thought it would be video. Perhaps I'm too excited about being at work.

Yes, the chap has obviously taken Kramer's advice to heart. (It's a BBC News item, BTW).

Ah, but it is an indoor slope in Holland. Short of a snowdome being built in La Rosiere you're not going to get any better conditions ....

An indoor slope isn't going to be very steep: speed slopes normally start at 45º. I assume he'll have to add an extra ramp from by the ceiling. But even over 550 yards he'd need something extra: perhaps a rocket launcher or a large piece of elastic. And he'll need a big heap of foam rubber as well as the net at the bottom!

Well they held a FIS Slalom Race there last year so Landgraaf ain't no mickey mouse indoor slope.

Two slopes, the longest of which is 520 metres in length. Also a ski slope for beginners and children. Permanent funpark for snowboarders / skiers. A third slope (500 m) with a 6-seater chairlift is to be opened this season.

I once saw a hill in Holland: they were busy mining it away to make it flat.
