Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which board is better: Rossignol or Sims?

Hi all,

This is going to be my first season and I'm looking to buy a package deal- board, boots and bindings- ...

First, is there any difference between a men's and women's boards? I was told to look for one around 162cm... I couldn't find a women's board that was that long... I'm 5'11, 170lbs, size 9 (mens) boots, and am learning for the first time- the two package deals I'm looking at are:

1) ROSSIGNOL SCOPE SNOWBOARD PACKAGE

- Rossignol Scope 162cm Snowboard- Men's
- Airwalk Pirate Snowboard Boots Gunmetal/Silver - Men's
- Morrow Dimension Snowboard Bindings Black - Men's
PRICE w/ Shipping: $269.99

2) NEXUS SNOWBOARD PACKAGE

- Sims Nexus 163cm Snowboard - Men's
- Head Bindings with ALUMINUM heelcup and a two year warranty
- Sims Cyon Snowboard Boots
PRICE w/ Shipping: $256.99

Are these good? bad? ... I need help choosing!!!

To be honest it probably doesn't matter too much about the board & bindings both will be ok but its a bit of a punt if you are hoping to buy boots mail order as sizes can vary widely between brands and bad fit even in a soft snowboard boot can make your life a misery.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

id deffo reccommend trying on the boots first. my first trip away i was in brand new hired salomons - which were good boots by all accounts. except they werent right for me and rubbed so badly on the backlof my calfs that i had them bandaged up by the end of the week. despite this i was still hooked on boarding by the end of that first week and before the next season id bought all my own kit - when it came to the boots i tried on every suitable pair in The Snowboard Asylum till i found the most comfortable pair. if youre doing a season (or even just a week or two) you really dont want to be squeezing your feet in to ill fitting or uncomfortable boots for 10 hours a day.
