Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

ajbaldwin, Snow-forecast is quite useful for that.

http://snow-forecast.com/maps/alps_dynamical.shtml

You can get maps for smaller areas (eg. Switzerland, Alps-West, etc.) in the Weather Maps->Europe drop down at the top, these will show smaller resorts as well as the biggys.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We stayed at an appartment in Montalbert a few years back that had a great 3D map of the French Alps on the wall, really gave you a good idea of how close resorts were.

I spent more time looking at the map than watching TV !

The snow-forecast map has at least a couple of mistakes on it - I just hovered over the places in our area and saw that they've put Vars and Super-Sauze a lot further south than they are (they've put 4 resorts inbetween Risoul and Vars which would make the link the world's largest!).

No idea if the rest of it is as inaccurate.

Viamichelin is quite good as well - you can drag the map around to move from one area to another.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Not much help I appreciate, but they were about €5 in Geant in Albertville a couple of years ago - still kicking myself for not buying one! Maybe they'll be back this Christmas?

Try downloading google earth, the ski resorts arent shown in great detail, but i think most are on there. Plus you can zoom in on your own backgarden!

They had them in Go Sport in Annemasse last year but hugely more expensive than that - like about 22 times more expensive, so I gave them a miss. Maybe they weren't quite the same thing.

I bought this 3 D map of all the alps in Bad Gastein two years ago. It costs 7.50 euros and comes in a plastic tube. Must frame it sometime.
