Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Poster: A snowHead
We have booked to go to Davos for xmas and then on to Meribel for New Year and have two spaces in the car for the journeys out and back.

Details

Travelling from Inverness via Carlisle so can pick up anywwhere A9, M74, M6, M42, M40 etc
Aim to be in resort 9am ish Very Happy

Return
Dep Meribel Saturday 6th January to make ferry at Calais at 0315
Aim to leave resort 4-5pm
Then return route to Inverness Crying or Very sad

We already have four pairs of skis (and boots) and may be able to manage another one on the roof or a couple of boards inside the car.

We reckon cost of travel one direction is about £150 inc ferry so all passengers share this cost.

Could also provide seat between the resorts if anyone wants to go that way.

Sorry to interrupt but would it not be easier for you to use the Newcastle/Amsterdam ferry? Pretty civilised to start the jouney in Amsterdam at 9:30am after a good meal and a good night sleep on the ferry. One hour the car will be in German autobahn. It is a fast rout to strike Switzerland and Austria.

My respect for such a long haul journey to ski.

What a way!!! Bad enough from Newcastle. And yes Saikee, I know it's better from Newcastle to Amsterdam, but we now have the dog with use when we travel, and leaving her in the car or the small kennels overnight is not an option. Some relatives were stuck at sea in a Force 10 in November, and arrived at Newcastle 10 hours late!!! They were only coming for the weekend, and spent most of it recovering from the journey, only to have to do it all over again on the way home.

Rest........... Puzzled
Wots that all about
Our holidays are about max ski, min sleep

You need to understand that this is all based on getting 8 days skiing for a weeks holiday. Therfore arriving in Amsterdam at 9am is no good to us as we waste daylight hours travelling.

We do often use the tunnel rather than ferry to avoid bad weather but just at the mo the tunnel is much more expensive so we are trying out the ferry again. We have actually never been delayed using the ferry but were aware a couple of years ago of getting through on the tunnel OK when all the ferries were held up cos of storms
