Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

This is the lack of snow in 2005:

The West Wall Chairlift in March 2005, with the carriers removed early 2006 so no such photos from last season. (Photo from Winterhighland)

"the elderly lifts had not been used in recent years because of insufficient snow cover on that side of the mountain." - The lower Ciste in 2006:

Yeah I thought the lack of snow argument was a bit of a joke. Just goes to show what we're up against. Still, at least the walk-out from the bottom back to the daylodge will keep the powder nice and untracked...

As you can see their reasoning is questionable to say the least - the truth is the lifts have not been running for a couple of years as a matter of company policy not because they can't be used or there's no snow.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
More evidence that the company have been set on a programme of managed decline.
last year's excuse was that the equipment was now too dangerous to run. The real eason - no maintenance.
They have been left to rust away to such an extent that they now declare them unsafe to carry passengers.
However they are obviously safe enough to transport their own lifties up to the bottom of the west wall poma.
These untruths that CML come out with do not put them in a good light.
We would love to be able to work WITH CML but their negative take on the future of snowsports on Cairngorm will only serve to force wintersports enthusiasts away.

Well it's fair to say the Aonach couldn't be used last winter since the rope was taken off it ! Sad

Can I ask people to also have a look at "Cairngorm riders past and present - your thoughts please" thread. This contains a modifed piste map which suggests some possible alternatives for reworking some of the lift network, thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Thanks for posting the pictures as it gives people from outwith the area an idea of what could be lost and an idea why some users are so passionate about Cairngorm.
