It's coming up to the time that the first snows appear on the webcams at the higher resorts. I used to watch the La Plagne (Plagne Centre) webcam to see when the first snow appears. I've even saved dated photos for comparison in future years.
I find it exciting watching the snow build up knowing I'll be on it soon.
When I go to a resort I don't know I compare summer shots with the winter pistes etc.
Do everyone do this or is this a minority activity

Compulsively! At the click of a button 3 webcams and data from La Plagne's Meteo France station appear on screen.

Yes! Just got the first snowmail alert for Big White - 15 cms over the next 2 days so keeping an eye as to when that actually appears on the ground. Although being Canada I can't check til the afternoon!

Michael B, every morning. The bavarian TV shows the webcams of most of the German and a lot of Austrian resorts. Very calming stuff before going off to work!

You bet I do. I look at webcam for Montalbert daily even in summer and have even been known to appear on it once or twice!

Yes I have 3 weather web sites, the sites of the resorts that I will be visiting, and various webcams all in "Favourites" or Favorites as Mr Gates likes to call it. Plus hi res piste maps etc in My Documents

It's supposed to have started snowing (according to Snow Forecast) in Marmot Basin (Jasper, Canada), so I'll be eagerly awaiting the webcam once it gets to daylight over there.
The resort is due to open November 17th - we're due out there 27th December.
It should start getting whiter !

If they didn't position the cams so they were mainly lift pylons, they would be nice views to watch at any time of year.

brian, Great to see a web cam in Grimentz, what a pity that no one has thought to focus it a little better. Same applies to the Bendolla web cam during the winter terrible aperature setting leads to the picture ebing burned out 90% of the time.....can't you use your influence (soon to be lcal tax payer status) with the tourist office to have their cameras "seen to" before winter?
