When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Innsbruck Olympic ski jumping arena converted for tennis

Here's a neat piece of lateral thinking: the Olympic ski jump landing area at Innsbruck has been temporarily levelled to host a tennis championships. It's reckoned that the steeply angled seating will be ideal to create an intense atmosphere.
If you want to see Martina Navratilova in action shortly, that's the place to go.

Clever. The Dubai Tennis Stadium (altho' permanent) is similarly 'intimate' as regards steeply tiered seating very close to the action and doubles as a great venue for outdoor concerts. Terrific atmosphere with people standing on what is normally the court and sitting on stands on 3 sides with the 4th converted to the stage.

At the famous and very historic Holmenkollen ski jump above Oslo the landing area is a bowl. The entire thing, seats and all, is filled with water in summer so that jumping can continue (from smaller ramps).
