Hi Guys,
does anyone know when the french kids are off school? Im looking to book a holiday in Meribel for either the 3/2/07 or 17/2/07
Any ideas would be great, i know the British are off on the 10th?!

iceman_louis, if you scroll up on the link Ray gave, you'll see that France is divided into three zones for the holidays. The idea is that by staggering the holidays, you don't get as much traffic on the roads, etc.

I think that Meribel is in Zone A (Grenoble) but I would have thought it would be heavily affected by Zone C as well which includes Paris.

French ski resorts are always packed in the school holidays. When more than one zone are on holiday it is unbelievable! Which zone a resort is in is immaterial.

I agree with Kenzie, whatever the zone the resort is in the whole 4 week period is very busy. Lets face it we travel on our half term so presumably the Parisians will do the same.

This may be true in the northern French Alps but further south there are some resorts (Isola 2000, Auron and the Val d'Allos being the ones with a week's worth of skiing in them) which can't be easily reached from the north so aren't affected by other school holidays.
Where we are, outside the local (Zone B) holidays there's barely an increase in visitor numbers. In the last 3 seasons, there have been, at the absolute most, less than 200 people in our village during the Zone A or C holidays. I've skied most of the day (from 10AM - 3PM) in those weeks and seen less than 30 people on the slopes.
