Poster: A snowHead

Can someone please recommend an instructor/course/location?
I'm a frustrated intermediate. Currently skiing with feet too wide (even by modern standards, especially when out of comfort zone) and the usual lean at the waist not the ankles/knees.
Could go UK or abroad for a weekend.
Thanks,
Mick

@geomickb, Any decent instructor will help you. Snowworks run some good improvers courses in Tignes or pop over here and book some private lessons. 3 mornings should do it.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@geomickb, where are you based?
@skimottaret and @rob@rar teach independently at Hemel, and they maybe worth a lesson with. Alternatively, you could request a lesson through Hemel with Pete Gillespie, another great instructor.

@geomickb, depending on distance you could drop into the Monday night sessions at Telford dry slope. It's possible I could also do a session with you, time allowing.

@geomickb, I think you will struggle to find a weekend group session during the main season in the alps, cant think of anyone running one but someone may chip in ... As others have suggested a private lesson at your local snow dome or dry slope would suit in the first instance. Perhaps try Chill Factore in Manchester, lots of good instructors there and close.
We (Inside Out Skiing) offer group and private sessions at the SnowCentre in Hemel and do a £50 off deal for first time Snowheads customers (click on my signature below) our group clinic programme there ends this month and restarts in April if you can wait. If not, we offer week long courses in Meribel in the winter along with one long weekend course pre Christmas but sadly that one is fully booked.
@swskier, thanks for the shout out

@geomickb, if it's a long term issue, I'm not sure how much you can reasonably expect to fix in a weekend
We've a long record of running ad hoc lessons at some of the bashes but even though the lessons themselves are shorter, people are at least out there for a week, practising between their lessons.
Even then though, people (both clients and instructors*) were asking for longer, more concentrated courses of instruction which was why the PiPAU had to happen.
*Some instructors were saying that they needed more time with some of the snowHeads to work more strategically to fix deeper ingrained problems.

@geomickb, I won't comment on the technique side because the experts on here know far better than me.
One thought I did have is on the physical side. Have you ever learnt to back squat and deadlift a barbell properly? Deadlifts and back squats with proper form would set you up physically for fixing your skiing. They will also help you get the feel of consciously controlling the flexing of your legs and waist.
It's not a good plan to go off and start lifting heavy weights with no training on how to do it, so this is something a PT would be able to teach you at a local gym.

@geomickb, I don't think* you'll fix anything over a weekend.
*absolutely sure you won't.
So if you want a fix, you need to devote a bit more time to the subject. As above, in a fridge or a dry slope in UK and then a bit more time on snow elsewhere. Lots of good ideas above.
I'd also, per @Henwc, make sure you're fit "enough" for what you're doing. Doesn't need to be enormously fit, just, enough.
