Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Seems a service car had problems this morning and crashed into the Cime De Caron Station with six injured. Thankfully non life threatening by the sounds of it.

@Skeeezo, thats scary.

several years ago, i was once trapped on the caron telepherique near the top station, after the winds picked up so much that, the car was being battered about and hitting the entrance area, meaning we could not dock for sometime, cannot remember how long but it seemed like ages. we were being thrown around and a few people fell over, but fortunately it was a quiet part of the season and not many people were onboard, so there were lots of places to hang on to.

i must admit, i did not use it again for a couple of weeks after that Shocked Shocked

That sounds very scary indeed. At least there are no serious injuries. As to the station and subsequent damage, I guess we'll find out in the coming days.

I may be wrong but I think winds were actually pretty light this morning so I'd speculate it was a technical issue or something unique to the cabin they were travelling in that was overlooked (it was a service cabin apparently).

I am guessing, obv. but would imagine it would be closed for a couple of seasons like the Saulire in Courchevel.

Very costly if so. I have never been to the 3V, is it the main link to Orelle?

One of them … you can also head to Orelle via the Col de Thorens (and board / ski the lovely Lory blue) or up the Grand Fond to the Col Rosael (there’s a blue and a red at the top). You can then head back to VT via all 3 cols (ind Caron - via the 2nd stage of the Orelle bubble). Accessing Orelle won’t therefore be an issue if the cable car station is damaged. This will only impact folk who head up Caron (from VT) to ski the Audzin (red) and the Combe (black).

Back at the EoSB the driver managed to slam it into the stanchion on arrival, conditions weren't overly windy but it took a fair bump. I soiled myself.

If it was a genuine special bin used for kit rather than one of the regular cars then maybe the closure won't be long. Was recently out most of a season anyway IIRC. Would scupper anyone hoping to do the roadless transfer from Maurienne to the resort though unless they're happy skiing down to Caron with all their luggage.

 So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Can still do them - just have to take the scenic route via Orelle. In fact might make @dadmin very happy keeping punters off his powder.

Was thinking the same thing.

Just read that the car was operating in manual mode which forgoes some of the auto safety features. Experienced pilot was treated for shock.

Still no news on damage to the station.
