Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

Heading to Zell am Zee skiing in Jan and have never been there before. We are a mixed group of adults and children, some beginners and some good intermediate skiers.
Would really appreciate any ski school recommendations please? TY

Outdo are great. My daughter really enjoyed her lessons with them.

@Trifides, Welcome to Snowheads. Where are you staying? It will make life easier if you have one close to your nearest lift.

Yes very good point.
The two absolute beginner areas are at the bottom of the Areitxpress and the bottom of the Schmittenhoe lifts, both "out of town" in different directions. The main ski-school meet points for the next level up are reachable from either of those or the CityXpress lifts (from centre of town). So its not so much which ski-school but where is the meet point with reference to your accom.

Hi we are staying in the Hotel Der Waldhof which I believe is near some lifts and slightly out of town?!

Der Waldhof is on Schmittenstrasse, which is the road up to the Schmittenhohe lifts (you take the free ski bus, which takes 10 minutes but which will frequently have filled up at the central bus station before reaching your hotel).

It is just outside of the town centre (10 minutes) but you can walk down the hill to the City Xpress lift in 5 minutes, so if possible choose a ski school that uses that lift as a meeting place. Second choice would be a meeting place at the Schmittenhohe. The Areitbahn is on the other side of town, so is not the one to choose.

Outdo has had some good reviews on here before, and they use the Schmittenhohe area for lessons.

Thank you very much. Does anyone know any schools that work from the city express lift by any chance?

Very timely this, thanks.
We are heading there first week of March and I'm looking for lessons for my adult son.
Staying at the Daxer so Outdo would be perfect.

Outdo are good (black uniforms; my sister used to be an instructor for them) with a lot of English speaking / Dutch / Brit instructors if that's your thing. . . .

However for best value (they are def the cheapest) and arguably technical instruction I prefer Sport Alpin (yellow and blue uniforms - https://www.sport-alpin.at/index.php?lang=nld) whos main office is RIGHT OPPOSITE City Xpress (with a great apres bar attached as well!) My teenagers have had group / private lessons with them over the last few years and I've had a couple of hour long refreshers with the gnarliest Serbian instructor who put me through my paces!

The office is usually always conveniently open and they're pretty flexible if you need to shift stuff around midweek etc - Book in advance online for better value and especially if your travelling during peak season- a choice of lesson formats and times etc. They also hire skis in a bundle package however . . .

Whilst your at it - if you need ski hire then Brundl City Xpress is 20yds away - quality rentals and really decent lockers; speak with Christian and he'll sort you out! If you have your own kit I suggest you book your groups requirements early as lockers can get pre-booked. They are included with rentals but sometimes at peak periods you can come unstuck if you have your own gear etc - again get a Brundl Card (20% off ski servicing) and book online. Another benefit with Brundl is that they have stores all over the resort / area - if you have a rental prob / want to swop skis then you can do this 'up the mountain' without having to return to base etc. . .
