Ah, same for me, how odd!
Street view still works showing the slopes in Chamonix and Val Thorens though

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I randomly checked around Selva and Alta Badia and can see some but they come and go depending on your magnification
Certainly in Italy Google was very out of date and inaccurate. Only a couple of weeks ago I was laughing because they had the same major gondola on twice, obviously one was in completely the wrong place.

Probably removed them, until the lift companies pay to advertise them and put them back on as "sponsored" markers. Google must surely be skint after Putin fined them more than the entire global supply of money
Anything based on OSM will be far more up to date anyway. And you get to see the entire piste shape too, not just the lifts.

I have contours on osm which are kind of handy too.

@Gaz_H, funny that. Because of a discussion on Snowheads when somebody said they had found accommodation "near the lifts" in Praz sur Arly (a resort I know well) I looked at google maps and there were no lifts at all.

Is that a mobile-only app? I just get a blank page on a laptop (Windows 10 & Firefox).

I've just encountered the weirdest glitch in Google Maps. Was checking the walking route to see a friend who lives in Clerkenwell, close to Barbican tube station, and Google's suggested route was a large circle, about 15 mins, when in fact there is a simple, direct route which takes about 4 mins. What's that all about?

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@Hurtle, it’s a new add-in to help you get your daily step count up

You know it makes sense.

The ski lift lines on Google maps were frequently out of date anyway. Open Ski Maps works and I'm also a fan of https://jollyturns.com/resorts for the interactive piste and lift information.

Lifts on Google maps seems hit and miss. I think it was Les C that didn’t have their lifts shown when I looked before, certainly it was one area we’ve been to.

The last few weeks when crossing Hammersmith bridge on foot its been showing needing to go on a stretch along the riverbank then you double back on yourself, a totally unneeded extra 1/2 mile.
Dont blindly trust the black box.

Why does anyone want to see piste and lifts on google maps?
Just curious as it's not something I've used/needed....

I read somewhere recently that Google removed them due to not being used/not being popular.

It can show how far your (potential) accommodation is to the lift. Or you can use it to locate a lift in a resort with a car park.
Sometimes you can even spot ski resorts you never knew about. This is how I spotted Nax, which I'm now planning to visit on my way back from Val d'Anniviers. Except now I won't know where to park

@HilbertSpace, openskimap is really good for pinpointing where lifts and runs actually are in relation to buildings, roads, carparks etc.
