Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which Ski resorts in Italy have easy transfers?

Will possibly be going to Italy last minute in December. Which resorts have short/straight forward transfers? That also tend to have good snow in December.

Sauze d oulx has a very short transfer 1hr but the snow will be hit or miss in December

Bolzano airport served by Sky Alps is only about 30 mins from Obereggen or Carezza.

Many of the resorts in the Aosta valley are an easy drive from Turin, if that's a possibility. But "December" covers everything from a couple of early season weeks to the busiest of the year. That might make a difference, as might dates. Some transfers only operate at weekends.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@JRB747373, where are you based? Will dictate the destination airport. Eg Sky Alps is great if you live near(ish) to Gatwick. Otherwise it's a non-starter

Turin or Milan Malpensa is usually your best bet.... above considerations apply

Turin for Cervinia is easy.

But then we'll get a thread, a veritable gale force one, about how someone went there and it was a bit windy Toofy Grin

Good altitude though, very good food, spectacular views .... and a chance of wind, did I mention the wind ? Very Happy

I like skiing there though.

Turin is my favourite European airport. Surprisingly for Italy it works incredibly smoothly. Very easy access to most eastern Italian alps resorts. Cheap car hire also out of main season.

I thought I had grammar and punctuation right with that, reference of second part meaning expansion of first statement Very Happy rather than power of wind.

The most severe I've experienced in skiing though was top of Verbier when they couldn't open the lift station doors for fear of them being damaged ! Oh, and Lytham St Annes on a winter company conference, which also needed use of the tradesmen entrance too Very Happy along with tumbleweed bowling down the sea front road.

Both up there on the Beaufort scale.

What about the 'hot air' that might appear from time to time on here? Laughing

That'd be in the climate change thread then, definitely Very Happy

Sauze from Turin is a breeze. Watch your weeks tho, we went mid December and only 2 lifts running - still had a great time as there was no one there, like a private resort!
Same applies anywhere, even if they're "open" you might get less than you expect early season.

Claviere (or metres away, Montgenevre in France). An easy drive from Turin, excellent snow record.

Turin to Aosta (Pila, Cervinia, La Thuile, Courmayeur, Monte Rosa) - 1.5 hours approx
Milan airports (Malpensa, Linate, bergamo) to Aosta - 2 to 2. 5 hours (Bergamo furthest)

Bergamo - Passo Del Tonale 2 hours

Venice - Passo San Pellegrino, Moena, San Martino, Alleghe, Zoldo, Cortina - 2 hours or slightly less

Verona - some Dolomite resorts - 1.5 hours

Cervinia and the two Passos would certainly be fine in Dec as are high resorts but I would think all of those resorts would be fine
