Does anyone here have any experience with Ronin skis? Small scale handmade skis out of Chamonix?

My wife bought me a voucher to go and build a pair of skis with Jonno, but I haven't managed to get there yet. Hopefully I'll do it at some point this season.

@galpinos, I demoed a pair of the 108 touring version at 178 about 3 years ago. I thought that they were super. Unfortunately I wanted a slightly longer ski than the 178 but not the 185. 182/183 would have been my Goldilocks ski. I would have been satisfied to pay the cost for just the right length. And I am not wealthy.
I can’t comment on the other widths.
I think Jonno usually has one or two available to test. They are built to a very high standard and every owner that you bump into in the valley without exception loves them.

In absolute terms yes, though in relative terms for a hand built product made to last, less so.

Lonely Mountain skis are expensive. However they are beautifully handcrafted They also ski well : demoed a couple of pairs out of interest but would never spend that much myself.
Think of it like an expensive painting which took someone 2 weeks to complete and it makes a little more sense.

@Haggis_Trap, one of my best Chamonix chums has a pair of LMS bought for his 50th or some such. Likes them very much. However, as the new price has doubled in the intervening 5+ years (which is fair enough), he can now barely bring himself to use them. Doesn’t want to risk damaging them. Yet he’ll ski over rubble on his Camox Freebirds….
They will end up on his lounge wall.
Though without a wood veneer topsheet, the Ronins are pretty similar in quality and approach. 2 individuals making something special.

At £1700 I would be scared to damage them.

I've tried plenty of Victoria Sponge at the village fete, sometimes amazing, other times not so, too many variables to be anything else than a "cottage industry". That said, that lovely WI milf is worth eating her cake!

I've tried the 108s too and thought they were really good. Agree that everyone I speak to in Cham who has one, likes them - although everyone I know who has one bought them when they were about £500 cheaper than they are now.
For me though they just aren't worth the ridiculous money. Are they good? Yeah. Can I pay well under half what Jonno charges for skis that are just as good (or 99% as good at least)? Definitely.
It depends whether you want the allure of 'hand-made' or the experience of making it yourself. Or if you're a millionaire.
