I don't think that's realistic. AFAIK, she retired because her knee couldn't handle the load anymore. Why would this change 5 years later?

she had a knee replacement recently, I wouldn't have thought racing on it would be a good idea

Re the Vonnbot. My money would be on more look at me attention seeking, possibly a streaming/TV doc following her path back then if she even reaches the startgate a tearful denouement where she says she was so close as she fails completely to be competitive/bottles it/cops an injury in training runs.
The basic fact is she can't stand that MS is a better GOAT than her, and a more marketable all round proposition. The actual racing is a sideshow though the fanboys/girls will be stoked to see how awesome she is etc etc

I got a proper scolding on Skitalk this summer for suggesting that, as she touted the mental health anguish of the former elite competitor for money, that maybe she could have done something about it by cultivating actual friends during her career.

This new rule is ridiculous. Make up-and-coming skiiers and those from the non-traditional nations go through all sorts of hoops, enter endless competitions, just to have the faintest chance at the big time- and let retirees waltz back in.
