Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Longer Buckle Ladders?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi!

I have just transitioned from "old" to "new" Tecnica ZGTPs.

Thing is, they decided to have one less buckle ladder hole in the cuff. Nothing short of stupid. The lost position is the "widest". I need this for my replacement liner which is a bit thicker and some pads making up for lack of cuff "canting".

I could drill a hole, but it would be unsupported unlike the other two, which have slightly thicker plastic around the T-nut.

Do you know a source for a longer ladder instead? I need round shape "steps" as the buckles have wire loops.

Any ideas appreciated!

@danbre2022, a standard longer tooth plate is simple, ones with the rounded steps a bit harder, just had a look through what we have here and i don't have something that would do it, but one is probably available out there somewhere

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Not sure how much it matters than drilling a hole would be unsupported. I did this for some Scarpa NTN telemark boots, and it has lasted fine for maybe 10 seasons, during which the boots have had sufficient abuse that I've had to replace 4 buckles, but the new holes have been fine

I will eventually resort to that... but a longer ladder would be "safer" I guess
