Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lots of early snow up high filling crevasses and preparing the glacier for a great season ahead!

Snow conditions on 2 October.
Heavy accumulations of blown snow created an unstable layer of snow over more than a metre and a half. High temperatures up to 4000 metres quickly stabilised this instability in the sun. A good base layer for this winter if temperatures remain low. These heavy snowfalls have filled in the crevasses that have been open since the summer

@BobinCH, a chum is a guide and he reckons he's never seen so much snow high up.

Snapping the boom on the crane at the Grands Montets construction site seems like the lift pass might get even more expensive/the lift opening be even more delayed!

Hi guys, what are the chances of the lifts being open next week? Iv a chance to be in Chamonix from Thursday 28th - Sunday 31st and would be great to get some skiing in!
Conditions look good on webcams but wondering about the situation with lifts opening and also any more expected snow after this weeks dump?

Many thanks

@PortSki, CMB said yesterday that the optimistic potential partial opening of the GMs on the 22nd was put back at least till the 29th.

I've just looked at teh webcams again and actually, looks like there's more snow than when I looked at 08h00 (just better vis and light, not actually any actual more snow). There were tracks down to Lognan this morning.

Not a lot of snow forecast after tomorrow and it's been very windy. Forecasts:

https://chamonix-meteo.com/
https://meteo-chamonix.org/

So, it's possible. How late can you leave pulling the trigger?

Hi mate, thanks for the reply. I was away for the weekend so not been on. I decided to leave it for this coming weekend and going to book something for mid-december when lifts will be open and HOPEFULLY a tonne more snow...wishful thinking i know!

So do we think anything at GM is going to open on Friday? It looks like ok cover on the webcams, but difficult to tell how deep of course. Not much looks bashed or any markers/signs set up though, so that doesn't look too promising unless they can get that done in a day.

Ski season in Chamonix is getting shorter with every passing year.

November openings are getting harder.

Glacier retreat and snowless town are taking away the sparkle.

Have you ever been to Chamonix @greyslush, or just in your febrile imagination?

We were skiing up Le Tour on November 8, 2021. And that year was a tip top, awesome season, just a pity no lifts were open.
