We've had a couple of very light sprinklings of snow around these parts so far this Autumn, but this week sees a bit more forecast on Thursday and Friday. Potentially, into double figures of cm above 2,000m.
Just over 6 weeks until the season starts.

The webcams are showing a very light covering. This'll come and go before anything sticks properly. I don't mind that at all because I want some warmer weather so I can cycle more when I'm off work for a week at the end of the month! After that cold and precipitous please!

Planning on booking again for Grandvalira this season soon and I'm considering third week of Jan or last week of Feb.
Would Feb conditions be much better than Jan or whats the thoughts?

@Maort, practically the same in theory but it's pot luck. The only consistency I've had since I've lived here is March snow is usually pretty good.

It’s raining outside here and should be snowing higher up. I have a feeling that the snow will be falling a bit too high up to make any real impact though.

It's a little far out to be reliable but current forecasts are showing a reasonable amount of snowfall this weekend and early next week across the whole of Andorra. Fingers crossed.

Up high there’s been between 50-100cm - variable due to the wind. It’s still snowing and should continue for most of the day tomorrow.

@PrimroseAndBlue, certainly was generous. It snowed for 2 1/2 days non stop up high. All sectors are open but only a few runs in each probably down to there not being many people skiing there this week than anything else. I have to wait until Saturday to check it out.

Cool to see the Pyrenees off to a good start.
Last few seasons have been grim.
Baqueira Beret (Spain) got 50-100cm.

@Maort, agreed. We had some good days in March but the rest of the season was tough going at times. This should be a great base to keep the season going for a while. My first season here we had a lot of snow early/mid Dec. It then hardly snowed and was sunny/warm most of Jan and half of Feb. The piste skiing remained excellent throughout. It was great to cover a lot of ground and then spend an hour or so on the terrace mid afternoon. Granted, I’d love buckets of powder every weekend this season, but I’d take that again!
It’s snowed nearly all day today with another 10cm or so forecast tomorrow night.

Skied Grandvalira all weekend.
Pas/Grau were pretty much flawless with most runs open. We only went over to Soldeu/El Tarter on Saturday afternoon and there were lots of little stones in amongst the snow even though the base looked mostly ok. A friend went over that way yesterday and said that Saturday evening's snow had resolved that and the snow was good.
A decent start to the season.
Warm temps for a couple of days and then cold and a bit of snow before weekend.

We had a quick visit to Piau-Engaly over the weekend. The weather was kind enough with blue skies, very little wind and comfortable temperatures, hovering around freezing.
The rain midweek combined with the holiday crowd has however paid it's price. Most of the mountain is hardpack to boilerplate already, and there are stones appearing in places on the more exposed pistes with wind barriers.
Things softened up around lunchtime thanks to the lack of cloud, but not too much as the sun is off the pistes from 3 O'clock onwards.

Did a day trip from Soldeu today to Porte Puymorens for the first time
Will definitely be back. Snow cover was good and very little ice which was great.
And my sons were really happy with the reds and blacks there - them being happy makes life much easier for me.
And best of all , got sold 3 lift passes for €50 -they had just been purchased and then the group changed their mind about skiing for the day, so with an additional €33 4 hour pass, cost only €83 for the family for todays skiing

Been rubbish at getting on here this season. January has been a bit of a disappointment so far. As is often the case, the only heavy snowfall this month came with ridiculous winds which meant a lot of the previous snow was scoured off and any snow that fell presumably went elsewhere! Jnr lives in Pas - that night they had 30cm fall in sheltered streets yet the pistes were down to hard pack.
Last week got a bit cooler so the cannons were running. It meant last weekend was pretty good on piste.
We now have a ok looking forecast for the next week. Reasonable amount of snow higher up, possibility of rain lower down.

Hello Snowheads
it's been a long time since I have posted here, I have been resisting looking at forecasts for my first trip to Andorra arriving this Sunday for 2 Whole weeks. I can hardly believe it. Only ever managed 1 week at a time before. After getting unlucky with weather twice the year before last I'm really hoping to see where I'm going this time and can remember how to do it!
My first week is in La Massana and the second in Encamp. 13 day pass for the entire Andorra. I gather I can bus around for the best conditions though would love advice on the best app to help spot that.
I'm coming out solo so any advice about how to get the best from this adventure would be most welcome.
I ski and board, was about early intermediate ISH untill confidence got knocked by zero visibility and blizzards on my last couple of trips.
Can't wait to see mountains again and looking forward to sliding down a few!
Hope to get some board lessons too also need some advice about that please.
I'll be sporting my usual pink gear and proudly wearing my Snowheads sticker on the back of my helmet. Say hi if you spot me.
Thanks for reading and in hopeful anticipation of your help.

Hmm looking a bit bare and rainy in Andorra at the mo- lets hope the Pyrenees does its magic with a later dump in Feb/March when the earlier season has been disappointing- am coming out in April so hope they don't move the closing date forward..

Fingers crossed. Wanted to fly somewhere at half term but daughter should be having an eardrum repaired, no flying for a month, so perhaps we’ll try Baqueira this year. So hoping for a generous top up!

Yes, last Monday it rained all day. It was pretty disheartening. However, it then snowed a few cm Tuesday and Wednesday nights which made conditions pretty good. Then it snowed about 20-30cm on Thursday night. This weekend just gone was the best snow of the season with lots of runs open that haven’t opened all season.
Another bout of snowfall forecast for the weekend - fingers crossed this happens!

The weekend snow is still on the forecast and has the possibility of being a little more significant than first thought. The main issue will be whatever happens closer to the Mediterranean could drive it elsewhere.

@Maddriver, snow is looking good I wish I wasn't leaving today...
Had a top up on Friday night so I skied the 20 cm of powder down the front face of Soldeu on Saturday morning
Runs are generally in good condition and there will be some off piste. You will have a blast.

@hammerite how would you assess the season so far?

I've been in Baqueira since mid January and last week we had 4 days of the best powder I've ever skied. Before I leave in April I expect more of every possible sort of snow/weather/temperatures etc. So far, certainly better than last season but you know - mountain weather - its as variable as the snow.
