Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Advice on kids length of skis

My daughter has shot up in the last few months. We have two skis she could use - 117cm and a 130cm.

She is probably an “intermediate” loves blues - gets down reds fine and developing technique on them. She has had 6 weeks on the slopes.

She is 140cm slim built.

What would be your recommendation for length of skis - so many different answers on the net, I can’t decide. Or we take both and test out which she prefers?

117cm sounds tiny to me for someone 140cm. 130s sound rightish. My 9yr old is on 130s and approx 134cm tall. My 7 yr old is on 120s.

It can also depend on how much rocker it's got and ability as well but can't really go wrong around nose height I think for red slope skier. Just my opinion !

@Elsie80, definitely the longer ones I would say although it's not a killer to be on shorter. We occasionally over kept ours. Kids tend to be less fussy than we are about this stuff!
