Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Article (extensive data) on global warming in Switzerland

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The conclusions are in line with similar research in other Alpine countries.

Below 1300-1500 meters there is a considerable warming and decline of the snow cover.

Above 1500 meters, the decrease in the maximum snow cover is not obvious, but the snow melts away faster in the spring.

As elsewhere in the Alps, temperatures have risen by two degrees in the past 100 years, much of it since the strong warming that began in the late 1980s.

In the valleys, the climate warms up faster than in the mountains. At an altitude of 1250 meters, the snow equivalent of winter precipitation (about 1cm of snow per mm) dropped from 195 in 1971 to 79 in 2020.

Thanks for posting. No surprise and matches experiences "on the ground", but still sad to hear. Be interesting to see how the industry adapts to the demand for higher altitude skiing. This could be the least of worries but it will likely mean an increase in prices.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The global and local numbers get worse with every passing season.

Ski to the max, now. While you still can.
