Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Planning ahead for next Easter

What is the Chardonnet lift like? Map says it's a 'drag lift for Advanced skiers'. We have a group including blue/red skiers and a blue snowboarder, would they be OK with it?

We are looking at a chalet next to this lift and, if it's not an option for our group, is there another way down to the Toviere lift area without walking?

TIA

@garfy1971, It was the first lift in Le Lac and is therefore old and can be a bit brutal. But a blue run skier with a reasonable physique should crack it. It does get a bit steep. Not really qualified to advise the boarder but there is a bit of a flat bit at the top.

If you are just by the lift it’s a 2 minute walk down Rue de la Poste. OK in board boots, a minor pain in ski boots.

@garfy1971, we stayed close to the Chardonnet lift for several years. Rarely used it, preferring instead to walk 5 minutes in ski boots to the main lift hub, Palafour/Toviere. None of us had a problem with drag lifts generally.

I’d say it’s a medium grade button lift. Steep but short distance, doesn’t jerk you in the air. Not pleasant as a first or last lift of the day though.

Your skiers should cope but it could be a nightmare for your boarder. The walk to the central lift hub is no big deal for most.

The Chardonnet lift is steep and tough for snowboarders, but blue run skiers can handle it. Otherwise, it's a short walk to the main lifts.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks all. We've decided to book over by Toviere for a number of reasons

Our group thought that Camille Maylin (Evolution2) was a great instructor for private ski lessons. He does snowboard lessons too.
